A COMMON MAN WITH AN UNCOMMON STORY
‘Fulfilling lives is only for people brave enough to find them’
Man, I heard that shit somewhere and it’s just resonated with me and I don’t even have to explain that to you because you already know!
I’ve listened to a lot of motivational content for years and I’ve taken as lot of life lessons from all the content. This is my first ever attempt at creative writing, I have no background in it, no training…I’m just another guy from a council estate in England who has a mind and soul so I hope you like what you read.
I once heard that structure eventually turns into shackles? so I guess I won’t stand on ceremony, what I guess you & I can take from that is that it often defies logic that sometimes our victories can defeat us, derail us and then make us all complacent and complacency is the silent shadow that stalks us in the night sneakily sucking the life right out of us because we are actually just existing in ease and its that ease in fact that is actually a more disastrously potent threat to our progress than our adversity.
So I ask you have you ever had that daunting feeling that you where going nowhere? Ever let ‘tomorrow’ become the front running word in your vocabulary while your soul contradicts that exact word screaming for you to answer your destiny? Tomorrow is such a shitty word man like literally the worst. You’ll often here yourself say ‘I’ll do it tomorrow?’ Listen?! Cut that mentality out because it’s way too dangerous and harmful to us all because essentially all tomorrow is to us is the essence of hope leaving you always hoping that one day it might happen while ironically stopping your momentum, stopping you from ever starting. Distancing you from your dreams, taking the air your breath right now because you never live or appreciate the moment right in front of your face while you delude yourself by always waiting all alone in comfort wishing you had the courage today.
It’s true, some will always find themselves trapped in there existence yearning to take the first step. That’s the hardest part we may have to face however we often forget that life as unlimited options but we just don’t see it because we’re sleepwalking, we see what’s around us, what everyone else in society is doing and we embody that exact vision. We become what we see, what we hear and what is expected of us. We jump on the first bus that we see which happens to be the first one that comes along, it’s the same bus everyone is jumping on boastful about it, all bragging about it and its going to the same destination which makes us feel safe, people have been their before and it makes us feel fine, it will be okay! But somethings always their isn’t it? Lurking and probing you? And that same questions always comes to the surface, ‘What if I didn’t?’ What if I didn’t jump on that first bus like everybody else? What if I waited for another bus? My bus, the bus that’s meant for me. That’s the hardest part because it takes time, its takes patience and courage to wait for your bus while everybody else is on the move, already travelling and your just sat their waiting, but never the less waiting patiently.
What so scary about a life of meaning?
Thiers something beautiful about the unknown, it has some kind of sense of freedom attached to it. Maybe all you have to do is maintain your individuality, just be what makes you unique and authentic. Maybe at least then you won’t have to follow the crowd, people get lost in the crown too trying to validate their existence. You jumped on the first bus you saw, but sometimes the toughest journey leads to the best destinations because validation is coming with your patience.
